LOVE IN THE CHURCH

NEED OF LOVE PORTRAYED IN THE BIBLE 2000 YEARS AGO IN THE CHURCH TODAY!

Romans 13:8-10

Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbour has fulfilled the law. For this, "You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet," and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, "You shall love your neighbour as yourself." Love does no wrong to a neighbour; therefore love is the fulfilment of the law.

Galatians 5:13-14

For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, "You shall love your neighbour as yourself."

In the corporate world and in popular culture it is easy to imagine a situation where people "bite and devour each other" in order to get ahead or be the best. The fact that Paul would have to write such words to the early Church of Christ in Rome and Galatia says something about our human nature. How could God's people ever need to be reminded not to bite and devour each other? Why would they need to be reminded to love one another?

Since the Church is made up of humans, we will always need to be corrected and nudged toward loving each other. Though we all are not born with the "Original Sin" but we all hit the cursed and sinful land when we took birth.  (Needs another elaboration for the captioned term)
We will always get irritated with each other, say things we don't mean, hold grudges when we shouldn't, and fail as we seek to love. Remember there is grace as we strive to be a witness of true love to the world.
The Bible verses we are reading today is a challenge to consider how well we are or are not showing the world what God's love is all about.
