Yeshwant Lohar |
It was really heart touching to know the love of Jesus reflected to this sister. She has a hut made up of hey and bamboo which hardly consists two persons. But I was amazed to see the rooms she had in her heart.
While she was on her way back from the worship service, she encountered a boy weeping by the side of the road. He seemed to be new to the place and was very afraid even to talk with this sister. But when sister Mina came near him and gently touched his head and with a soft voice and asked him about himself, he gathered the daring to speak to this lady and moreover he felt like I am safe with her. The first word that this boy spoke out was "I am hungry" May I have anything to eat? Without any further delay this noble lady took Yeshwant to her hut. She fed him and nourished him.
Despite all the disabilities she took care of this boy for a month or so but when her own situation was drastically falling down near to starving, she felt this boy to be handed to someone who can take care of him. At the very moment she said, she thought about the family in Bagdogra Church of Christ. Without any further delay this poor little boy was brought to me. We accepted him to our family and he too was overjoyed to be a part of it. After the food he went to sleep and the next day I thought of speaking with him and sister Mina for necessary paper works and formalities, but in the meanwhile I learnt the real story of this boy, which touched my heart and couldn't help myself to flow emotionally.
Hereby is the story of Yeshwant Lohar, aged 10 years:
Yeshwant Lohar was born in Palasbari, Banarhat a rural village in the district of Jalpaiguri, state, West Bengal, India. His father was a bad drunkard and spent most of his time in search of alcohol (Rakshi, in Nepali). He developed to be so cruel that for a sip of drinks, he was ready to share his wife with others. This painful incident thrilled the mother of Yeshwant and become unbearable. When the situation started overflowing, she decided to abandon 5 months old Yeshwant Lohar back and move forward in a hope for some relieve-able future. She met someone to spend her life happily. Although she was happy with a new beginning, 5 months old Yeshwant Lohar was left behind to struggle and face the unkind and self-centered group of so called human beings, a situation without the love and care of parents. His father Gopi Lohar also left and never came back home ever since.
By the grace of God a physically challenged sister among the so called normal and civilized society dared to come forward and take the responsibility of this child. Ever since the acceptance, Yeshwant was with her but a tragedy again fall to this poor little guy, this lady's husband died and there was no means to take care of even her, so hard to imagine for Yeshwant. Therefore he decided to leave and there was no one to tell him to stop. He walked and walked and finally by the grace of God he was brought to be us. Yeshwant has started taking classes with my wife Subha and imagine he is so good in learning that even within a short span of time he has learnt the Alphabets, and some words. He can do great if arrangements could be made for his schooling.
There are more Yeshwants, poor, striving and struggling Yeshwants. Whatever earned by both me and my wife are not sufficient for sending them to school and other very essentials necessities. If you could join hands with me in this noble cause, together we could make a difference or atleast create a reason to smile for some Yeshwants.
